Buying Baseball Hitting Training Equipment

Hitting a baseball is one of the hardest things in sports because it requires a mastery of swing mechanics and a perfect combination of power, timing, and hand-eye coordination.

  • For a batting tee, look for adjustable height, a durable rubber or steel base, and stability (so it won’t tip easily).
  • The hitting net should be a minimum of 7x7 feet, designed for quick setup, with heavy-duty netting (at least 7-ply), and a weather-resistant frame.
  • The training balls must match the purpose and type of training. Ideally, it should be made with foam for safety, weighted for power training, and small enough for hand-eye training.
  • For the swing trainer, you want one with an ergonomic grip, real-time feedback options (smart tech optional), and adjustable weight or tension.

This 7’ X 7’ heavy-duty baseball hitting net is made of  7-ply knotless sports netting that is thick, durable, and heavy-duty. The frame is sturdy and stable against wind and high-velocity pitching/hitting, plus it provides a large practice space, whether indoors or outdoors.

Buying The Best Baseball Pitching Equipment

Baseball pitching training helps you improve accuracy, velocity, pitch variety, and your overall mechanics. Here’s how to pick the best equipment for baseball pitching training.

  • The baseball pitching net should have a strike zone target area, a durable frame, and must be easy to anchor or stand alone.
  • For a pitching mound, go for one that is lightweight but stable, with perfect slope accuracy, and a weather-resistant surface.
  • The radar gun can be handheld or tripod-compatible, but must be accurate at short distances and capable of displaying the pitch speed instantly.
  • Look for trainer balls with seams for grip training, varying weights for mechanics development, and soft cores (especially if safety is a concern).

This mid-sized 9-hole pitching net by Zelus not only replicates an authentic strike zone but is also adjustable to 3 different heights to mirror the varied strike zones in real games

It is made of durable 0.3-inch polyester and has a solid water-resistant base with 4 ground stakes for solidity.

3. Baseball Fielding and Catching

The purpose of baseball fielding and catching training is to help improve your glove work, footwork, reaction time, and throwing accuracy.

  • A rebounder net with adjustable angles (grounders, line drives, fly balls), a sturdy frame, and good bounce-back tension.
  • Training Gloves should be compact to force precision, made of quality leather or synthetic materials.
  • Choose a ball machine with adjustable height and direction that is compatible with training balls and safe for backyard distances.

4. Buying Baseball Throwing Mechanics Training Equipment

For fast, powerful, and accurate throws in baseball, you need to build arm strength, improve mechanics, and increase throwing speed/accuracy. For baseball throwing, buy:

  • Trainer balls that are progressively weighted (5–12 oz) and the proper grip size.
  • A target net with visual strike zones, height markers, reinforced catch pocket.
  • Resistance bands that accommodate baseball-specific motions, door anchors, or pole straps, and have adjustable resistance levels.

This softball and baseball training balls set contains twelve 1-pound weighted balls containing 16 ounces of iron sand. At 1 lb., they are just hefty enough to improve throwing your power, but light enough to avoid damaging stress to joints and tendons

They are designed to provide real-time feedback to improve your connection and follow-through.

6. Baseball Catching Training (For Catchers)

Baseball catching training helps improve your receiving, blocking, and throw-down techniques, which can greatly improve your success during the game. Keep the following in mind when buying training equipment for baseball catching training.

  • The mitts must be a smaller size for precision and made of durable leather.
  • Go for blocking balls with dead bounce or reduced rebound to simulate game scenarios.
  • The backstop should have a high and wide netting to catch all missed balls, especially for working solo.

This 12x9ft & 16x10ft Barricade Backstop Net from Zelus provides a large enough hitting surface or protective barrier, while still being large enough to fit in your backyard.

It is portable, and comes with a unique fold-up design that makes it easy to set up so you can start practicing within minutes, and waste less time chasing balls.

Final Tips When Buying Backyard Baseball Equipment

  • Prioritize Safety: Use foam or reduced-impact balls when space is limited or when kids are involved.
  • Durability: Backyard gear should be weather-resistant and able to withstand repeated use.
  • Ease of Storage: Look for foldable or collapsible designs for space-saving.
  • Adjustability: As your skill level improves, gear that can “grow with you” (adjustable tees, nets, mounds) is ideal.
  • Portability: Lightweight but stable equipment lets you train anywhere, not just at home.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMER TO SAY ...

  • It helps with walking

I purchased this weight vest to kickstart my weight loss journey, and it has been a great investment. The vest is easy to use and comfortable to wear, which makes it easier for me to wear it regularly during my walks. However, there are a few things to keep in mind if you decide to purchase this weight vest. Firstly, it is not suitable to wear in the rain as it tends to smell and may cause some damage to the vest. Additionally, cleaning the vest can be a bit challenging, and I have yet to find an effective way to clean it.One other issue that I have experienced is that the material inside the vest may start to leak over time. Fortunately, I was able to use Gorilla Glue to prevent the leaks from getting worse, which helped to extend the lifespan of the vest.Overall, I would recommend this weight vest to anyone who is looking to start a weight loss program. It's comfortable, easy to use, and effective. Just be mindful of the potential issues with rain, cleaning, and leaks, and take steps to prevent them from happening.

  • Rock solid piece of equipment, works great where I actually feel the burn all over. Crazy awesome.

I was working out at the gym and I saw a room full of these things and decided to give one a try. I found this one, good specs, and a good price and decided to give it a try. I was not dissapointed, where this actually makes me swet and after a while can feel about every muscle working. I have never felt anything like this before, anywhere and to exercise at such a high rate, has an awesome feeling. I do 20 minutes a day, and have lost five pounds, so far, in two weeks. After my first time, I did 30 minutes, I could feel ever muscle in my body, that I probably missed at the gym, that next morning. This one is rock solid, a good solid piece of equipment, that works. There is a lot of variance on speed, and the remote control is solid as well, and very reactive. The power button, kills the rocking pretty fast, so I felt pretty safe taking this one to the max. Hard to show how nice this one is with just pics, so I did a video to show. No cons, really nice piece of workout equipment, where I am very happy with the purchase.
