Make every step count for more.
Zelus makes weighted walking easier to start and easier to keep doing.
Why we build for walking
Most training plans ask you to add something new to your week. Walking asks nothing new — you already do it.
A Zelus vest turns a walk you were taking anyway into a walk that asks a little more of you. No gym, no class, no schedule to keep. Put it on, go outside, come back.
We think the training that works is the training you don't have to talk yourself into. That belief is the whole company.
We didn't start here
Zelus started in 2016 as a home fitness brand. Tennis nets, yoga balls, weight plates — if a family wanted to train without a gym membership, we probably made it.
For the better part of a decade we paid attention to what people actually kept using. Most home equipment is bought with enthusiasm and stored with regret. One category was different. People wore the weighted vest. On dog walks. On the school run. Around the block after dinner. It didn't need a plan to survive.
So in 2024 we stopped making everything else. Today Zelus makes weighted vests and nothing else — because we'd rather be the right answer to one question than an average answer to twenty.
Two vests, two jobs

Zelus Z-Fit™ Slim Walking Vest
A slim weighted vest designed specifically for walking. Low profile enough to wear under a jacket, on a commute, on a dog walk. Built for people who want the weight to disappear into the day.

Zelus Classic Weighted Vest
A straightforward weighted vest for people who want accessible, dependable resistance. A wide weight range, nothing complicated, priced to start with.

Everything about a weighted vest — how it sits, how it moves, whether you reach for it on a Tuesday — comes down to what the weight is made of. That's the part we spent the last few years rebuilding.

Weighted vests have always been filled with iron sand.
It's dense, it's cheap, and it works — which is why it's still the right answer for a straightforward vest. But loose weight moves. It shifts as you move, settles where you don't want it, and sits on the body like cargo rather than clothing. For a set of squats, that's fine. For a forty-minute walk, it isn't.

So we stopped buying filling and started developing it.
What came out of that is a silicone-bonded weight material of our own — dense enough to carry real load, flexible enough to bend with the body instead of resting on top of it. Nothing inside it is loose, so nothing inside it shifts. It's the first part of a weighted vest we've ever made ourselves rather than sourced.

That material is why walking became our category.
We called it Z-Fit™ Slim, and it changed what the vest is for. A vest you can wear under a jacket on the way to work is a different product from a vest you put on for a workout — same weight, entirely different place in your day. The material came first. The category followed.

The fit changed along the way too.
Our first vest used a single crossed-strap design, built for an average body that turned out not to exist. Feedback from broader, smaller and curvier customers pushed us into a range instead — adjustable weight for people who want to start light, and a reworked front panel for a fuller bust.
There's no type
We've given up trying to describe who this is for. The people who wear Zelus don't have much in common — not age, not shape, not how fit they were when they started.
What they share is smaller than that. They wanted to be a little better than they were, and they were willing to walk. That's the whole requirement. If you already like walking, the vest gives it something more to do. If you don't yet, this is the easiest version of starting we know how to build.
