I tried a couple different rucking vests and had to return them because they sagged so low on the back, and I had to keep adjusting it as I wore it. Then I found Zelus! It still pulls down a bit toward the back, maybe because the weights on the back are heavier than the front? But I don't have to adjust and pull it back toward the front as much as the others that I returned.
I started with a black 12 lb vest. I wore it for 5 months. Then I bought a olive green 16 lb, which I have been using for 8 months. I recently bought a pink 20 lb vest and it's still a bit heavy for me to use, but I plan to start using it in 2-3 months.
I started rucking on hills13 months ago and the Zelus weighted vest has really enhanced my work outs. I started doing 3 miles a day, and now am up to almost 7 miles on my best days. My legs look toned, defined. I am trying to build muscle and bone density since I am a cancer survivor and on cancer meds for 5-10 years that cause muscle loss and bone density loss. I believe this vest will help to at least slow the bone and muscle loss. The meds also cause weight gain, but since I have been increasing the miles that I ruck, I have been able to maintain my weight.
I now see that Zelus makes a "U-Shaped" vest and I am wondering if I should have purchased that instead, since it looks like there are more weights in the front so that the vest doesn't sag in the back. And it looks like it might accommodate the female bust better. Too late; it is recommended that you not go beyond 11% of your body weight, which would be 15.5 lbs, so I have definitely maxed out with the 20 lb vest and won't be getting another one, sadly. Maybe when I have worn out the 20 lb vest, I'll get the 20 lb U-shaped vest!
I love this weighted vest! The weight distribution feels perfect, I’m skinny so sometimes I struggle to find things that fit me properly, but this was perfect even with my small waist! Definitely makes hanging abs so much harder, and also pushed me on the stairs and my mile!
The vest is comfortable and I can feel the weight when I am going on my walks. It fit wells and hold down the breast when I run. I just wipe it down with an antibacterial wipe and let it dry! Will come back in 30 days to show you results!! Get the vest and go for that walk.
I had no idea how heavy I should get for my first weighted vest. I went with 12 pounds, and I am heavy and out of shape. I think it is a great fit - I walked 2.5 miles in it and was not uncomfortable at any point.
I appreciate the Velcro pouch to put my phone in.
I have recommended to my friends.
